In the summer of 2002
Blake was diagnosed with cancer and underwent intensive chemotherapy and
radiation treatment. The treatment was initially deemed a success until the
cancer returned in July of 2004, at which time Blake was pronounced a
'terminal case'.
It was time to get busy. Blake began meeting with musician Jude (Colin) Davison at his studio every Friday to record his poems and stories, with the primary intention of archiving them. Inspired by his writing and performances Jude soon found himself composing and recording music for the recordings.
The result is three CDs of spoken word & music titled The Terminal City Trilogy released in the fall of 2005.

DVD Release: The Self
One of the tracks from the above CD recordings - The Self - has seen a further transformation; this short four-minute piece was edited together with a series of still photographs by photographer Fred Rosenberg to create a visual alchemy of the poem.
